Why Choose the Balkans
Why patients choose Dermatology in the Balkans
Board-certified dermatologists
All injectable and laser treatments are performed by or supervised by board-certified dermatologists — not aesthetic nurses or technicians as is common in unregulated UK settings.
Same devices, lower fees
Fraxel, CO2RE, Alma Harmony XL and Hydrafacial MD are standard in partner clinics. Device costs are amortised over much higher patient volumes, reducing per-treatment pricing.
Full skin assessment included
Every package includes a consultation with dermoscopy skin cancer screening. Many patients discover treatable lesions they were unaware of during their cosmetic visit.
Combine treatments efficiently
Book Botox, filler, laser and a HydraFacial in one Sofia weekend stay — rather than separate UK appointments spread over months.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dermatology Abroad — FAQs
Is Botox in Bulgaria performed by doctors?▾
Yes. In Bulgaria, injectables are medical procedures requiring a licensed doctor or nurse under physician supervision. BalcanCare partners only with dermatology clinics where Botox is administered by a board-certified dermatologist.
How long does Botox last?▾
Botox effects last 3–4 months for most patients. Repeat treatments over 2–3 years often extend duration. The same Allergan Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) or Dysport that UK clinics use is standard in Bulgaria.
Can I fly straight after laser treatment?▾
For light treatments (IPL, HydraFacial, mild peels): fly the next day. For ablative CO2 laser: allow 5–7 days before flying as skin needs initial healing. Your dermatologist will advise sun avoidance for 4–6 weeks post-laser.
How is a full body skin cancer screening done?▾
A dermatologist uses a digital dermoscope to examine all moles and lesions systematically. Suspicious lesions are photographed and compared on future visits. Removal and histology can usually be done on the same day.
What skin conditions can be treated abroad?▾
Acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, melasma, acne scarring, mole removal, warts, and skin cancer screening are all available. For chronic conditions, the Balkan dermatologist provides a full treatment protocol that your UK GP can continue.
Are fillers the same brand as in the UK?▾
Yes — Juvederm (Allergan), Restylane (Galderma) and Belotero (Merz) are the standard HA fillers used by partner clinics. These are the same brands used on Harley Street, at 55–65% lower cost.
