Why Choose the Balkans

Why patients choose Gesundheits-Check-Up in the Balkans

Same-day results

Blood panels, ECG, echo and most imaging results are available the same day or next morning. UK private clinics often take 5–10 business days.

English reports ready to share

All reports are issued in English and structured for sharing with your GP or specialist. PDF format, internationally standardised reference ranges.

No NHS gatekeeping

In the UK, accessing a full body MRI or advanced cardiac screening requires GP referral and often months of waiting. In Sofia or Istanbul you book directly.

Combine with treatment

Discovered an elevated PSA or a suspicious finding? Our clinics can progress straight from diagnostics to specialist consultation and treatment planning in the same visit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gesundheits-Check-Up Abroad — FAQs

What is included in a full body health check-up?

A comprehensive executive check-up typically includes: 80+ blood tests (metabolic panel, lipids, liver, kidney, thyroid, hormones, tumour markers), ECG, echocardiogram, abdominal ultrasound, chest X-ray, urine analysis, and a physician consultation to review results. Full body MRI is available as an add-on.

How long does a full check-up take?

A standard executive check-up takes one full day (6–8 hours) including fasting bloods in the morning, imaging, and afternoon physician review of results. Full body MRI adds 2–3 hours. Most clinics schedule everything in a single day.

Do I need to fast before my check-up?

Yes — fast for 8–12 hours before blood tests and abdominal ultrasound (water allowed). Book your check-up for the morning so you finish by early afternoon.

Can my UK GP accept the results?

Yes. All reports are issued in English with international reference ranges. Your GP can act on the results exactly as they would from a UK private clinic. We recommend emailing the PDF directly to your GP surgery before your next appointment.

How often should I have a full health check-up?

Annual comprehensive checks are recommended for ages 40+. Ages 30–40: every 2 years, or annually if family history of cancer/cardiac disease. The results from your Balkan check-up establish a baseline for comparison on future visits.

What happens if the check-up finds something serious?

If a significant finding is identified, the reviewing physician will discuss it immediately. BalcanCare can arrange same-week specialist consultations (cardiologist, oncologist, etc.) at the same hospital. We also coordinate communication with your UK specialist.
